Four bodies found in Markham, Ont., home; one man in custody

A man at the front door of the home was taken into custody after officers arrived and police said they found the three women and a man dead inside. "The corner did attend, as well as officers from our forensic identification unit".

"We do believe that the man we have in custody that's now been charged is responsible for these murders", Pattenden said at a news conference held outside the home on Monday morning.

Police say four bodies were found in a home north of Toronto on Sunday afternoon.

"The identification process for the deceased is going to take quite some time as post-mortems need to be done by the coroner", Const. Andy Pattenden told reporters during an update on Monday.

Pattenden wouldn't say what or if there was a relationship between the accused and the victims.

Ammara Riaz was a basement tenant at the home for seven years until the summer of 2018.

When asked for proof of the deaths, "Menhaz" allegedly posted photos of four victims inside the house after their deaths.

She said although she's seen the son and daughter on the street, it was more often the daughter.

"Menhaz was so sweet. That man was arrested and has been in custody ever since", he said. The user went on to apologize for making community members upset, asking them to "remember the good times".

Riaz said because of the fights, police had to be called on at least two occasions. "Mumtaz (the mother) was always in charge and would complain about her daughter".

"I've lived here since 2002 and it's been a quiet neighbourhood".

He said that when police cruisers started to arrive, he thought it might be a robbery.

Zaman's case is expected to return to court on August 2.
