In between calling out Justin Trudeau, delivering some moving speeches, and discussing how she responds to haters like Maxime Bernier, Thunberg also made time to hit-the-streets with Canadian activists, carrying her iconic "school strike for climate" Swedish sign. Friday's rallies kicked off in New Zealand, where young people marched on Parliament in Wellington, holding one of the largest protests ever held there.

Fears about the impact of global warming on the younger generation were expressed by schoolchildren in Dharmsala, India.

"First, I think it [climate change] needs to be accepted, because people aren't accepting that it's real or happening, and that would be a huge step for Southland, " School Strike for Climate Change Southland coordinator Ashleigh Putt-Fallows said.

Wellington's event will start in Civic Square at 11am.

Industry says around $40 billion in climate financing will be generated between 2020 and 2035.

Bardem was promoting a documentary he worked on with Greenpeace.

"I will try and communicate the urgency and say that they are the ones in charge now. I was so stressed out about that", she said.

This week, Thunberg gave a United Nations address in which she accused world's political leaders of robbing her of her future by putting financial considerations over everything else, further deepening the current environmental crisis.
