OnePlus launches 7T smartphone, first TV in India

It's not a complete redesign of the OnePlus 7, but there are improvements across the board. If you'd like to grab them, a download link is included below the article. While the OnePlus TV Q1 comes with four speakers, the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro packs in eight speakers.

The speaker seems to be pretty solid too, particularly compared to most built-in TV speakers. On top of that, "Never Settle" variants are also available.

However, it's not yet known where they will be sold outside China. It's also 7mm thin, because OnePlus are all about thin - seemingly more so than Apple. However, with the Indian market rapidly growing demand for its smartphones in India, OnePlus has embarked on what it calls a new chapter for the company.

Soon after the launch of the new OnePlus 7T, the company has announced a discount for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

The OnePlus TV will come in 2 models - 55 Q1 and 55 Q1 Pro. OnePlus also stated the memory is of the UFS 3.0 type, which in real-world terms mean nearly twice the speed of operation compared to what previous-gen OnePlus phones were capable of.

Xiaomi's TVs are relatively affordable: the 43-inch Mi Full Screen TV Pro costs ¥1499 (around £170 in a direct currency conversion). That mode shows off pictures taken by the OnePlus community, like a digital photo frame but 55-inches big. There's a good chance this TV will never make it to the United Kingdom, but if it does don't expect those direct conversations to be reflective of the price we have to pay. There's no word on availability outside India - but if you are in India you can head over to Amazon to buy it.

But one thing to note is OnePlus has improved the 30w charger in this device.

Its base model is ₹69,900 - around £800. The Q1 Pro, however, is 99,900 rupees, which is £1,134.

With a start price of Rs 37,999, the OnePlus 7T appears like a worthy upgrade and not just a for-the-sake-of-it smartphone. I told you it's confusing!

What's interesting is that the OnePlus TV will have a VA (vertically aligned) panel instead of an IPS panel. Upfront, it has the familiar face from the OnePlus 7.

OnePlus moves fast. Too fast, for some people.

In this sense, this mirrors their phone strategies. It's more than willing to share information that may help a lot of people. Well, UI has always been a strong side of Oneplus phones.

All of these TVs have 4K panels.

The remote was previously revealed, with a slick aluminium unibody, with USB Type-C charging rather than using batteries.

Once again, this mirrors the companies' phone strategies.

OnePlus tends not to segment its devices the way other manufacturers do. However, there's one company has been saving their "joker" card till the very end to jump in and grab all the attention. The TVs have border-less screens and come with a matte finish.

There will be two versions of the TV - the Q1 and Q1 Pro, one with soundbar and one without. After all, the phone has all it takes to script a superb success story, which includes the style, looks, build and of course internal specs. Now, you need some kind of decoder to figure out what's new. Already have a surround system? The TVs pack in a high dynamic contrast ratio, Dolby Vision, and offers the highest NTSC colour gamut of 120 percent. Xiaomi's TVs support Dolby Digital. The Pro model is also the only model that'll ship with a stand. OnePlus is calling it the Oxygen OS which is in line with its smartphone OS of the same name. We'll just have to wait and see. There's a directional rocker at the top for navigating through the user interface and a button labelled with the OnePlus logo, a Google Assistant button and an options button on the left and a back and home button on the right.

The OnePlus TV series is clearly of more interest to TV enthusiasts than Xiaomi's Mi TV range. It will have Quantum Dot colors.

OnePlus 7T is releasing in the U.S. on 18 October priced at $599 (around £485). If you buy something featured, we may earn an affiliate commission which helps support our work.
