The new trailer gives better looks at the transformations than the one released last summer, with each performer clearly identified.

One of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history, the London stage production of Cats received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981-where it played for 21 record-breaking years and nearly 9,000 performances.

Taylor Swift stars as Bombalurina.

You might remember the intense reaction to the first trailer for Cats earlier this year- it pretty much left everyone speechless.

But lurking in the background, is the dreaded criminal cat Macavity, played by Idris Elba. The second trailer takes the cat jokes and dials it up to a thousand.

I'm left with a lot of questions: Why is Idris Elba's fur the color of the cheap red wine my mom buys in bulk?

The Late Late Show host James Corden, X Men's Ian McKellen, comic actress Rebel Wilson also star, while the film introduces England's Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward who takes the starring role of white kitten Victoria in her feature film debut.

Based on Webber's long-running musical, Cats follows a tribe of cats called the Jellicles, one of which will be chosen to travel to the Heaviside Layer and receive a new life.

Cats will hit theaters on December 20, so consider it a built-in Christmas gift for all the cat ladies and gentlemen in your life.
