Steven Bergwijn says Jose Mourinho was his childhood inspiration as he targets winning the Champions League after completing his move to Tottenham from PSV.

"Steven has signed a contract with the club that will run until 2025 and will wear the number 23 shirt", Tottenham said in a statement on their website.

He bolsters Spurs boss Jose Mourinho's options in attack with England striker Harry Kane out with a long-term hamstring injury.

"To play here, it's a dream for me".

"Just look around the training ground, it's incredible".

"Having made his senior worldwide debut in October, 2018, the 22-year-old has collected nine global caps for the Netherlands to date". I would think he's the paciest player in the Eredivisie.

"I come here to win prizes".

The club has already shown previous year that they can get far.

Bergwijn scored 15 goals in 41 appearances last season and has found the net six times in 26 games during the current campaign. "I watched last season, the team went so far, and I hope this season also".

Bergwijn follows in the footsteps of Giovani Lo Celso, whose loan move to Tottenham was made permanent on Monday.

But he will now become Spurs' second signing of the transfer window following the earlier arrival of Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.

"None of it is true, I never refused to play for PSV and I would never do so in the future".
