GOP Senators Seek Hunter Biden's Travel Records for Probe

Republicans argued during Trump's impeachment trial, if Democrats were allowed to call witnesses, the GOP should be able to call Joe and Hunter Biden.

Minutes after the Senate voted to acquit Trump, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson of Wisconsin released a letter they sent to the director of the Secret Service requesting Biden's travel records during the time when his father was vice president.

The committees are "reviewing potential conflicts of interest posed" by Biden's business dealings in Ukraine and China and want to know whether or not those relationships were fostered on the public dime.

Joe Biden, who is running for president, has consistently said his son did nothing wrong.

"The administration told House Democrats to go pound sand when their oversight authority was mandatory while voluntarily cooperating with the Senate Republicans" sideshow at lightning speed'.

It also asks for "the protective detail that Hunter Biden received while his father was Vice President", and a "list of all dates and locations of travel, worldwide and domestic, for Hunter Biden". During that call, Trump repeatedly asked Zelensky to investigate Biden's son, Hunter Biden, since Biden had used his position as vice president for his son, who held a lucrative position with a Ukrainian gas company.

"Making use of a blatant double same old, Trump management companies just like the Treasury Division are hastily complying with Senate Republican requests - no subpoenas important - and generating "proof" of questionable starting place", stated a spokeswoman for Senator Ron Wyden of OR, the highest Democrat at the Finance Committee. As vice president, Biden was in charge of addressing corruption in Ukraine at the time.

"The Treasury Department responded to Republican senators' request for highly sensitive financial records related to Hunter Biden, according to a report, placing "'evidence' of questionable origin" to the lawmakers.

The senators wrote to Murray requesting information, they said, that would "help the committees better understand Hunter Biden's travel arrangements to conduct business related to his dealings in Ukraine and China, among other countries, while he received a protective detail".

Just after the Senate voted to acquit President Trump on the two articles of impeachment against him, Senate Republicans announced Wednesday that they have requested Hunter Biden's official travel records from the Secret Service. In December 2013, the same month the fund was officially established, Hunter Biden joined his father and one of his daughters on a trip to China.
