Five-time major champion Mickelson will be alongside Brady, who has an NFL-record six Super Bowl titles.

Woods and Mickelson would pair up with former National Football League quarterback Peyton Manning and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, according to the reports.

Manning, who played for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, retired in 2016 as the NFL's all-time leader in passing touchdowns and yards and is the only five-times victor of the league's Most Valuable Player award.

CNBC, citing an unnamed person familiar with the negotiations, said the match could happen in May.

Turner would reportedly broadcast the event as regular programming, as opposed to "The Match: Tiger vs. Phil", which was a pay-per-view event.

According to a CNBC report, the match, sponsored by AT&T's WarnerMedia and the PGA Tour, is tentatively planned for May, 247Sports.com reported. However, the seriousness of the coronavirus outbreak has reportedly changed Woods' stance as sports fans seek ways to fill the void.

Sports in the United States have been shut down for weeks as the coronavirus took hold in the United States, including the NCAA tournament, the National Basketball Association season and the Masters golf tournament. Mickelson's agent, Steve Loy, told ESPN he couldn't provide many details because "there are many moving parts". The veteran golfer teased fans March 16 on Twitter when asked about a possible rematch with Woods.

Officials coordinating the event also plan to feature stars throughout the PGA, NFL, and National Basketball Association.

"Discussions along these lines have been ongoing for quite some time, but nothing has been approved by the tour", the PGA Tour said in a statement. Spectators will not be allowed, per social distancing guidelines.
