Chynna Rogers, Rapper and Model, Dies at 25

Model and rapper Chynna Rogers has died at the age of 25.

Rogers was born in Philadelphia but also lived at the time of her death in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

"I can regrettably confirm Chynna passed away", her manager John Miller said in a statement.

Rogers started her career as a model at the age of 14.

Chynna was best known for her hit singles "Selfie" and "Glen Coco".

The performer released several albums in the years after her introduction to the music world, including Music 2 Die 2 in 2016, in which she addressed her own ongoing battle with opioid addiction.

In previous interviews, Chynna disclosed how her mother's death encouraged her to overcome her struggles with substance abuse.

Chynna's most recent EP, In Case I Die First, was released at the end of 2019. MadeInTYO thanked her for helping him out in the early stages of her career saying, "love you & thanks for showing love tooo me before anyone did".

When speaking to Pitchfork in 2018, Chynna opened up about how she overcome drug addiction.

A$AP Mob led tributes to the young artist on Twitter. She was just 25 years old.

"I was able to just focus on getting my feelings out and treat music more like a journal", Chynna said. I can't believe it IDK how to. "This Isn't Happening" and 2016's "music 2 die 2". "I didn't want to go out that way and people be like, 'I told you so, ' or glamorize [drug use], because I don't feel like that", Chynna told Vibe.

ASAP Rocky wrote "rest in peace baby girl" on his Instagram story and Tierra Whack tweeted about restrictions on funerals because of the coronavirus lockdown.

"I felt insane. I didn't want to be a statistic".

"I don't like doing this when my people go but I think everybody needs to know that you were special", said Vince Staples.
