Obama's endorsement came one day after Senator Sanders backed Joe Biden's bid for the White House, calling President Trump the most unsafe president in the modern history of the United States.

Mr Obama's message, which contained both overt and subtle takedowns of President Donald Trump, hailed Mr Biden's loyalty to the United States and his preparation for leadership. Selecting Joe to be my vice-president was among the best selections that I ever made, and he grew to become my shut pal. He also took a swipe at what he characterizes as Trump's unleashing of polluters and disregard for basic norms, the rule of law, facts and science. "That having leaders who are informed and honest, and seek to bring people together rather than drive them apart - those kinds of leaders matter".

Mr Sanders, who suspended his campaign last week, endorsed Biden on Monday.

One thing we've learned from this endorse-o-rama is that the Democratic Party seems a lot more organized in 2020 than it's been in past presidential cycles.

US Senator Elizabeth Warren, who formally dropped out of the race for the White House in March, has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for US president in a Twitter post. Bernie Sanders holds hands with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during his speech at a campaign rally in Queensbridge Park, on October 19, 2019, in the Queens borough of New York City.

Mr. Biden and Ms. Warren have had "several calls" since she ended her campaign, a source familiar with the discussions told Reuters. "He wants you in the fight with him", Warren said.

"If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are, and I can not stand by and watch that happen", Biden once stated. Likewise, Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the Associated Press in a recent interview regarding testing, "We have to have something in place that is efficient and that we can rely on, and we're not there yet". We disagree on issues.

Joy Behar then asked about progressives who plan to vote third-party rather than choosing between Biden and Trump. They clashed in 2005, when Biden was a DE senator and Warren was a Harvard Law School professor and bankruptcy expert, during a congressional hearing over a bankruptcy bill.
