Is this the mother of Joe Biden's accuser on Larry King?

In the recently rediscovered clip, an unnamed caller to King's show hinted at the "problems" her daughter suffered at while working for a "prominent senator" - but doesn't mention sexual harassment or identify Biden by name.

Initially, the Intercept determined a call that could fit the description - though not mentioning sexual harassment, firing, or retaliation, as Reade had recalled it - did take place on an August 11, 1993 edition of King's show.

Reade told reporter Ryan Grim that her mother called in to CNN's Larry King Live around the time that she had left Biden's office.

"I'm wondering what a staffer would do besides go to the press in Washington", the woman says in the video. "I miss her so much and her fearless support of me", Reade said in a tweet late Friday evening.

Reade disclosed to The Intercept in an interview that following the alleged incident with Biden, "she told her mother, a close friend, and her brother about both the harassment (from Biden) and, to varying degrees of detail, the assault at the time".

Grim highlighted some issues between Reade's story and the substance of the call. It features Tara Reade's mother talking about the "problems" her daughter faced at the hands of a "prominent Senator", which she now claims is Joe Biden.

The Intercept then said that King's panel of guest didn't offer any guidance to the caller.

After being read the transcript of the call, Reade said that it matched with her memory.

Tara Reade confirmed with the Daily Caller on Friday evening that the voice in the recording is indeed her mother: "I just heard audio, my mother died and hearing her voice made me cry. The problems, she makes clear, would damage the senator if exposed". Reade now claims Biden pushed her up against a wall and forcibly penetrated her with his fingers, while she was briefly employed by his Senate office in the early 1990s.

Reade, however, does not remember the date or location of the incident, and did not report it when she went public previous year with claims that Biden inappropriately touched her neck and hair. At one point his campaign even released a statement from Marianne Baker, who would have been the office manager in the Biden senate office when Reade worked there in 1993. "These clearly false allegations are in complete contradiction to both the inner workings of our Senate office and to the man I know and worked so closely with for nearly two decades". The woman was Reade's late mother. Either his is a long con stretching almost three decades to get it set up or Reade is being truthful about retelling her experience to friends and family at the time of the alleged assault.
