For more than 10 years now, the name of Lionel Messi has been ringing the bell in the world because of his impressive performances for Barcelona.

Lionel Messi does not often talk about his rivals, but in 2019 he revealed his five best players in the world and explained why he did not pick his longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo and himself among them.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has circled June 12 as the ideal date for matches to resume.

Lionel Messi feels there is no point thinking too much about getting affected by coronavirus as there is risk everywhere.

"But we must understand that it's essential we comply with the protocols and follow the prevention measures as much as we can. Going back to training is the first step but we shouldn't get complacent and we must continue taking all the necessary precautions and assume we have to start playing games but behind closed doors".

"I personally am looking forward to the competitions again. We know it's going to all be very odd, without anyone in the stands, I've done it before and I found it out", said the Barca captain.

Asked about LaLiga's plans for teams to be quarantined together, away from their families, after matches are underway, Messi said: "With regards to being quarantined, we really would not like to have to be separated from our families and you have to see how is it finally".

Martinez is viewed as a long-term replacement for the 33-year-old Luis Suarez.

"If I'm honest I'm not sure if there were or are negotiations right now for him, I have no idea", Messi said.

Lionel Messi insisted Barcelona can not win the Champions League unless it improves its performances, disagreeing with head coach Quique Setien.

Barca - which returned to individual training last week - had been preparing for the second leg of its Champions League last-16 tie against Napoli when the competition was suspended due to coronavirus.

Lionel Messi, Barcelona's star playmaker and goalgetter, says the La Liga champions have no chance of winning the Champions League this season unless they drastically improve.
