Beyoncé Drops New Single "Black Parade" on Juneteenth

A sweeping yet fine-grained salute to Blackness in its many forms, "Black Parade" layers Beyoncé's throaty singing and casually audacious rapping over a low-slung, brass-equipped groove coproduced by the artist and her music director, Derek Dixie, who also played a prominent role on 2016's "Lemonade".

The track arrived yesterday, Juneteenth (June 19), a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S., which the singer also acknowledged on a statement posted to her website. "I can't forget my history is her-story, yeah, being black, baby, that's the reason why they always mad... and they always have been".

The single isn't just an anthem for those championing racial equality as part of ongoing protests around the world, either. It goes without saying that "Black Parade" is excellent and demands your full attention.

"Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle", Beyonce wrote on Instagram. "Black joy is your right", a message read on Bey's website.

"Black Parade celebrates you, your voice and your joy".

The list has been compiled with the help of Zerina Akers, Beyonce's long-time stylist.

Beyoncé marked yesterday's Juneteenth holiday by surprise dropping a new track "Black Parade", and it comes with a powerful message and goal.
