The lower-end iPhone 11, however, only comes with a 5W charger despite having support for the faster charging standard. Oppo and Xiaomi are now the front-runners in this department, with phones like the Oppo Find X2 Pro, which support outlandish 65W fast charging (and beyond).

The next iPhones could benefit from faster 20W charging but the verdict is still out on whether this includes every version or exclusively 2020's "Pro" models. However, the iPhone 11 is still sold with a 5-watt power supply, which unnecessarily extends the charging time of the large battery.

At its recent World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC), Apple announced Apple CarKey as part of the iOS 14.0 iPhone operating system, which is scheduled for release in the coming months. This is exactly the same as the spy photos previously exposed.

But, if Apple really does decide to go for 6 iPhone 12 models, it would give a lot more choice to customers.

"They've been around for over 100 years but they've become big, bulky and ripe for reimagining", said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering. Bringing it to a new breed of OLED iPhones would increase the smartphone efficiency bar even increased. Of course, it's not beyond Apple at all to merely repeat the trick of giving users who opt for its "Pro" line of phones swankier chargers, while leaving those who cut the budget slightly with less plush accessories. In the best-case scenario, only the top version will come with this charger in the box.

MacRumors further pointed out that Barclays analysts also mentioned the production delay for iPhone 12 which is something that has been rumoured before. However, it is not clear whether all models will hit the market at the same time. However, this may be changing with the iPhone 12 series as Apple will reportedly provide a 20W fast charging adapter free with the box. A new iPad Pro release and the newest addition to the AirPods line is also expected by sometime early next year. The next iPhone is probably launching in October and there's thought to be a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch Pro and Max models, and 6.7-inch Pro Max model.
