JR Smith, Lakers Finalizing Deal

This deal with Smith will happen before Tuesday's 11:59 p.m. ET deadline of the NBA's "transaction window".

Numerous signs pointed to Smith landing in Los Angeles following Avery Bradley's decision to sit out the Orlando restart.

According to The Telegraph's National Basketball Association expert Mark Stein, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, JR Smith will be added to the roster for the National Basketball Association restart at Walt Disney World.

As for Crawford, he is one of the best available free agents. The former was the hot favorite to replace the latter in the Lakers roster. Smith originally worked out for the Lakers in March the same day Waiters did, and the team opted to sign Waiters instead.

Smith, 34, has not played in the National Basketball Association since an 11-game stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the start of the 2018-19 season, when he accused the team of tanking before eventually parting ways. He'll reunite with LeBron James in Los Angeles and look to carve out a similar niche as a volume secondary scorer. He appeared in only 11 games for the Cavaliers previous year before reaching a buyout agreement with them.

The NBA season is expected to restart on the 30th of July, after along layoff, arising out of the coronavirus pandemic.

Smith is represented by Klutch Sports Group, which also represents James, Anthony Davis, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Talen Horton-Tucker and Dion Waiters. What we don't know - and I can not stress this enough - is how teams will look when they come back.
