Comedian Rickey Smiley's daughter undergoes surgery after being shot multiple times

Rickey Smiley's daughter was in surgery Monday after she was shot in Houston over the weekend.

From her hospital bed, the teen also included more of the horrifying details from Sunday's shooting, adding how she was almost shot in the head. Rickey had found out about the shooting just hours before he went live on air. She was getting food at a Whataburger location when shots rang out.

Aaryn Smiley is Rickey Smiley's youngest daughter. However, Rickey Smiley had some choice words while on the air Monday morning while referencing some of the most recent and high-profile instances of Black on Black gun violence, in particular. "I'm sitting up here a gunshot victim myself and I'm still up here fighting and praying for the rights of Black people and all of the parents that had to bury their loved ones due to gun violence in our own community by our own people".

After saying on the radio that he would be flying to Dallas and then driving the rest of the way to get to his daughter in Houston, Rickey shared an emotional video on Instagram showing him preparing for the journey as he tried to process his thoughts and feelings.

'We've got to stop gun violence.

Smiley's daughter was in a different vehicle at the light, according to investigators, and was caught in crossfire.

Smiley thanked everyone for their prayers and he thanked God for protecting her.

She has since had surgery and said the incident was "the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me".

Aaryn was reportedly celebrating her birthday on Sunday when she was struck. At least six children were shot and killed this weekend, CNN reported. "They won't let me see my parents or let anyone come in because of COVID", Aaryn said in her Instagram Story while sharing a photo from her hospital bed. "I'm more than grateful that my daughter is alive". I'm so mad right now, I don't know what to do'.
