Walmart will require customers to wear face coverings at all of its namesakes and Sam's Club stores, making it the largest retailer to introduce such a policy that has otherwise proven hard to enforce without state and federal requirements.

CVS-"We're joining others in taking the next step and requiring all customers to wear face coverings", CVS tweeted Thursday. In the last week, several more businesses have announced they will do the same.

The decision comes after Walmart said it will require face masks in all of their stores.

Schnucks is now training employees on the new protocols and preparing signage to mark the change to customers who haven't heard of the update to store policy. Small children are exempt, and those who can't comply due to a medical condition should use alternatives such as face shields or use pickup or delivery services.

Costco and Menards were among stores that already required masks.

Walmart and Sam's Club required face coverings for customers beginning Monday. Meanwhile, CVS Health and Walgreens said their mask requirements will start on July 20.

At the front entrance, an employee is stationed asking each person to put on a mask, offering up a free one if you do not have one. It also includes employees at nursing homes, meatpacking and food processing plants, and clothing sellers, like Macy's and H&M.

"We are adhering to all local safety mandates within each of our stores and strongly encouraging those who are medically able to wear a face covering to do so".

The mask policy does not apply to young children or people with medical conditions who can not wear a mask. Target said it would provide disposable masks at entrances to customers who don't have one.

"If that person doesn't leave then they will call us", Jessica Schindeldecker with Fargo Police Department said. The face mask requirement goes into effect on July 20. We also request that our customers wear face coverings, and require face coverings where required by state or local ordinance. Publix said the new store policy was "encouraged by the CDC for most individuals".
