Prince George photographs as he celebrates 7th birthday

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London in July 2013 and made his first public appearance a day later, when his parents stood on the hospital steps in front of a huge crowd of photographers and camera crews.

Two photographs were released last night by Kate Middleton and Prince William, both taken by the Duchess earlier this month at the family's Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old Prince Louis, have spent lockdown. He will be the 43rd monarch since William the Conqueror obtained the crown of England in 1066 if, as is expected, he follows on as king from his grandfather, the Prince of Wales, and then his father, the Duke of Cambridge.

If you care, Prince George celebrates his seventh birthday, today.

It's become a tradition for Kensington Palace to release photos taken by Kate Middleton each year on her children's birthdays.

One of the photos shows a little boy, tousled blond hair swept aside and grinning, wearing a camouflage green T-shirt, while in the other he is wearing a favourite olive green polo shirt and shorts. This year, after all, the prince will probably have a family-only event due to social distancing guidelines.

I do to George what [Princess Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making. "[George is] the heir and one day he might be king".

Over the past few months, William and Kate have released footage of George, Charlotte and Louis clapping for NHS workers outside their country home. It's the same difference between William and [his brother]. Since Prince Harry is very close to his nephews and niece despite his transatlantic move, Prince George's photo could be a wink to him.
