Apple is Now Manufacturing the iPhone 11 in India

United States technology giant Apple has begun manufacturing iPhone 11 at Foxconn's facility in Tamil Nadu, according to official sources.

Apple has reportedly started manufacturing its iPhone 11 at Foxconn's plant located near Chennai. As of now, users will not see the drop in process (PRICES ) but it is believed that we might see this happen eventually as producing these devices locally will save Apple the company Apple 22 percent on import duty.

Foxconn already makes smartphones in India for Apple Inc and Xiaomi Corp, though in March it suspended production due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Significant boost to Make in India! Apple might even export the iPhone 11. The new development comes just a little over nine months after the Cupertino giant started the assembly line for the iPhone XR in the country. Wistron has assembled iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7 models in its Bangalore plant and now assembles iPhone XR units in India.

As per the report, Apple is ramping up production in phases and will soon start exporting the iPhone from India to other markets. Apple is keen on taking advantage of the government's production-linked incentive scheme by moving manufacturing to India.

The company is also planning to make the new iPhone SE at the Wistron plant near Bengaluru.

Reports suggest that Foxconn plans to invest up to $1 billion to expand its India factory where it assembles iPhone models.

Apple plans to launch its online store in India in a few months and open its first brick-and-mortar retail store next year, chief executive Tim Cook announced earlier this year.
